Big hair, don’t care? …Not really. Having perfectly styled hair all the time is all fun and fab until you actually see the long-term damages that the tools and harsh products did to your tresses. Even though some products are meant to be more gentle and “good” for your hair, having too much of something is never good and can lead to damaged hair. Always remember that not everything works the same for all hair types. Don’t worry; it’s never too late to change! We gotchu! Here are fast and easy ways to save your hair:

6 WAYS HOW TO REPAIR DAMAGED HAIR

HEAT DAMAGED HAIR

Avoid Heat Products That Damage Hair | FoxyBae

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look fabulous everyday but you have to be more careful when it comes to heat styling. Your hair might look good at the moment but constant usage of hot tools can give your hair long-term damages. Here are a couple of things that you can do to repair damaged hair, and turn your hair from crispy to silky again:

Protect and treat your tresses

Use protection! Since you’re literally rubbing very hot metal onto your hair everyday, you have to make sure to use products that will protect your hair from heat damage. Also, you should NEVER style wet or damp hair because according to the “Journal of Cosmetic Science”, applying high heat literally boils the hair moisture out of your hair, causing the cuticle to bubble and buckle.  Heat protection is the easiest way to avoid heat damaged hair.

Wash your hair less

You read that right, washing your hair less can actually save your locks! Shannon Marks from Live Strong said majority of shampoos are made out of 10% - 15% detergent which cleans your tresses and removes oils. But this also strips your hair of heat protection. If you really need to wash your hair regularly, you can ditch your shampoo and just use conditioner once in a while.  By using less shampoo, you maintain more heat protection in your hair, and don't have to worry about heat damaged hair!

 MALNOURISHED/ DRY HAIR

How to Repair Dry Damaged Hair | FoxyBae

Malnourished and dry hair is a constant struggle, but don't fret!  Here are some ways to treat your dry damaged hair:

Give it a trim

You can use a million different products but sometimes, you just have to chop it off and start fresh. If your hair has a straw-like or has extremely dry texture, this solution is your best and only choice. Don’t worry; you don’t have to cut your hair extremely short. According to hair professionals from Matrix, you can still maintain a specific length and just treat the rest of your damaged hair with hair care products like masks and deep treatments.

Start from within

Healthy living can result to healthy hair. According to Amanda from Running with Spoons, you have to eat accordingly and consume foods that are good for you and your hair. These are foods with healthy fats like nuts, avocado, olive oil and salmon. You should also have to make sure that you’re drinking enough water.  By putting healthy ingredients into your body, it is shown through your hair.  Say goodbye to dry damaged hair!

 CHEMICAL/ BLEACHED DAMAGED HAIR

Chemically Bleached Hair Tips | FoxyBae

Constantly dyeing your hair is always fun and adventurous, but it comes with consequences. Here are two ways to repair bleached damaged hair:

Be careful

Avoid hair treatments that involve harsh chemicals like bleach. If you really need to get your tresses colored make sure that the products are semi- permanent and/or ammonia free. According to Matrix, you should also pay attention to your hair care products. Make sure that you use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners.

Moisturize

The first symptom of chemically damaged hair is dryness. Elizabeth Siegel from Allure said that regular scalp treatments can definitely create long-term benefits. According to Neil Sadick, a dermatologist, “keeping the hair follicles clean prevents the blockage and inflammation that leads to thinning hair later in life.” Treatments like hair masks can not only treat your bleached damaged hair but can also improve hair growth and strength.

So there you have it, quick and easy steps that you can do to repair damaged hair! Always remember that everything should be done in moderation. Having shiny and perfectly curled hair all the time is not that worth it if it can drastically damage your hair. Once in a while, just flaunt your natural hair texture, own it and slay the day!
